Google is saying "I can't connect to the Internet right now"

If Google says "I can't connect to the Internet right now" there is likely a problem with your wireless network. Here is how to fix it.

Problem

If Google is saying "I can't connect to the Internet right now" when you say "Okay Google", there is likely a problem with your wireless network. Follow the steps below to try to troubleshoot the issue.

Solution

First, check to see if other online devices are working and able to connect to the Internet, such as a computer or mobile phone. If you are having problems with your other devices as well, the issue is with your wireless network. You will need to contact your Network Administrator or Internet Service Provider.

  1. Unplug both your modem and your wireless router, wait 10 seconds, and plug them both in. Wait 5 minutes and try accessing the Internet again.

  2. If your Internet is functioning properly and you have followed all of the above steps, you may need to reset your Google Home. You can find instructions on how to reset your Google Home here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7073477?hl=en-CA
